Virtues of reciting Surah Ikhlas – an Uncountable Wealth

O Kids, Allah has blessed mankind with a book of guidance known as “Holy Quran”. This central religious manuscript is the final revelation revealed by Allah Almighty upon the last Prophet, Muhammad (S.A.W). The main topic which is discussed many times in the holy Quran is the concept of Tawheed.

Tawheed means there is no one but ALLAH who is solely managing this whole universe and what’s inside. Surah Ikhlas is the pivotal surah which explains this concept in a concise way.

Surah Ikhlas is the 112th Surah of the holy Quran having only 4 verses. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W) said,

“Read the Qur’an, for verily it will come on the Day of Standing as an intercessor for its companions.”(Al-Muslim)

Every single verse of Quran is not less than a jewel but still there are few words which carry huge importance, as per the hadith and Sunnah of Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.). The transcript of Surah Ikhlas is a wonder. It is one of the most recited surah’s of Quran, also known as Surah at-Tauheed (The Unity). Surah Ikhlas goes like this:

Say (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)): He is Allah, (the) One.

قُلۡ هُوَ اللّٰهُ اَحَدٌ

Allah-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks).

اَللّٰهُ الصَّمَدُ

He begets not, nor was He begotten;

لَم يَلِدۡ وَ لَمۡ يُوۡلَدۡ

And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him

وَلَمْ يَكنْ لَّهٗ كُفُوًا اَحَدٌ

Kids can also learn it easily as it has only 4 verses but the benefits are massive in number, some of which kids can find out as follow:

One third of the Holy Quran

Recitation of this surah carry reward equivalent to one third of Holy Quran. Therefore, it has made compulsory for the Muslims to read it in prayers. Prophet (S.A.W) therefore said:

Hazrat Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) came out to us and said: I am going to recite before you one-third of the Qur’an. He (the Holy Prophet) then recited:” Say: He is Allah, One Allah, the Eternal,” to the end of the Surah (Al-Muslim)

One who reads Surah Ikhlas 3 times, gets reward equivalent to the reading of a full Quran.

Shield from Catastrophe and Trouble

This surah is a treatment of many ailments. It is a castle providing safety against misery, pain, problems, hardships, disaster, mishap and tragedy. Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said:

When you recite Surah Fatiha and Surah Ikhlas upon lying on your bed, you will be safeguarded and should become fearless of everything except death(Tafseer Mazhari)

Source of Love Accomplishment

Do the kids want the love of Lord? Of course yes, then what is its way? No need to worry children. It’s quite easy. Amplified recitation of this surah leads to the achievement of Allah’s love.

In a hadith narrated by Aisha (R.A), the Prophet (S.A.W) once appointed a man in command of a brigade and this man was leading his men in prayer and he used to conclude his prayers by reading surah qul hu-wallaahu ‘ahad. Upon their return, they mentioned this fact to the Prophet (S.A.W). He (S.A.W) in turn said: “ask him why he did that.” they asked the man, and he replied: “because it contains the attributes of the most compassionate and I love reading it.” The Prophet (S.A.W) then said: “inform him that Allah loves him.”

Prophet’s Sunnah

According to a Saheh Hadth our prophet used to recite Surah Ikhlas, Surah Falaq and Surah Al-Nas thrice after every namaz. As our prophet actions are not without any logic and only to please ALLAH, we should also try to make a habit to read as much Surah Ikhlas after prayers.

So O Kids, surah Ikhlas has many gains other than those mentioned above. Therefore it has become compulsory to adopt the recitation of Surah Ikhlas in daily routine as it collects frequent rewards for us from our Lord.
